"A professor of physics and nuclear experts were killed a few hours ago in front of his house in Tehran," Mehr news agency said in its report at 14.30 GMT (21.30 GMT).
ISNA said the victim's name was Darius Rezaei, 35. He is an expert who joined the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI). According to Fars news agency, he also worked in the Department of Defense.
Safar Ali Naratlou, the provincial officer, told the news agency ILNA that no one was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Mehr reported Rezaie wife also suffered injuries in the attack and was rushed to hospital. He said, Rezaei who studied nuclear engineering at Amir Kabir University, Iran, holds degrees in neutron physics and doing research for AEOI.
Some Iranian nuclear experts have not been known to exist in the past few years, or become targets of attack. The Islamic republic blames the United States and Israel were behind the actions. The two countries suspect Iran's nuclear program as a nuclear weapons-making facilities.
On 29 November, Shahriari Majid was killed in Tehran when some motor plant a bomb in his car and head current nuclear Fereydoon Davani Abbas survived a similar assassination attempt on the same day.
Abbas Davani targeted Security Council sanctions based on United Nations Resolution 1747 passed in March 2007. He was identified as the armed forces logistics experts and Defence Ministry.
An Iranian expert on the other, Masoud Ali Mohammadi, died in a bomb explosion on January 12, 2010. Tehran claimed the people from the U.S. and Israeli intelligence agency's action.
Following the event Iran was determined to improve security for nuclear experts.
Earlier this year the country's authorities announced they had arrested a man who was behind the assassination of Ali Mohammadi. They also said the networks are working for the Israeli spy agency Mossad has been broken.
